The Outing

About this outing.

Join us for a peaceful birdwatching canoe adventure on Lake Duluti, a scenic crater lake just outside Arusha. Surrounded by lush forest, this calm lake offers excellent opportunities to observe ducks, herons, egrets, and other waterbirds up close from the water. The surrounding trees are also home to colorful songbirds and migratory visitors.

This relaxed outing focuses on canoeing across the lake, combined with a gentle walk along the 3 km lakeside trail. The slow pace allows you to enjoy bird calls, spot raptors overhead, and appreciate the natural beauty of the crater. Perfect for beginners and all levels. We start and end at the main entrance to Lake Duluti.

     Details:

  • Distance 5–8km
  • Elevation 1200m (up & down)
  • Paved trail, single-track packed dirt/gravel, some steep stairs
  • Pacing: Medium with frequent stops
  • Sun exposure: Full.
  • Date: On the final Saturday of each month
  • Time: 1600-1830
