At Greenbul Wings, we believe every young person holds a natural curiosity and connection to the living world. Through the power of birdwatching, we work to heal the growing disconnect between children and nature supporting their mental, emotional, and ecological well-being while nurturing confident birders and passionate ambassadors for life on Earth.
We envision a world where meaningful engagement with birds and nature is not a luxury, but an essential part of every child's growth. By creating spaces for exploration, learning, and wonder, we are building a generation that understands, values, and actively protects the natural world around them.
Have you ever felt a moment so perfect you wish you could gift it to someone else especially to a younger version of yourself?
That's how I feel most of the time I go birdwatching. My own love for birds began later in life during my college years but once it took flight, it changed everything. I spent years exploring Tanzania's forests, wetlands, and savannas with a binoculars in hand, falling in love with the feathered life around me. With every new species I recorded, a quiet wish grew in my heart: I wish I had known this joy earlier.
It was more than a wish. It became a calling.
I founded Greenbul Wings with a clear and urgent vision: to give young people what many of us missed the opportunity to connect with nature early, through birds. Birds are everywhere, yet they are often overlooked. They are powerful teachers of patience, observation, resilience, and coexistence. Through birdwatching, children can learn not only about biodiversity, but also about themselves and their place in the natural world.
Our aim is simple but profound: to inspire a new generation of young people in Arusha to reconnect with nature, develop a love for birds, and grow into environmentally conscious citizens. Through education, training, and outreach programs, we create safe, joyful, and meaningful experiences that spark curiosity and lasting appreciation for nature.

Our work is guided by four interconnected goals — each one a wing carrying the mission forward.
To directly improve the mental and emotional well-being of young people by facilitating joyful, regular contact with birds and nature.
To advance the public recognition of nature engagement as essential, influencing educational and community norms.
To build a skilled, connected, and inclusive community of young birders who see themselves as part of a larger movement.
To empower young participants to transition from observers to active stewards and advocates for local ecosystems.
Whether you join an outing, support a young birder, or simply share our work every wing makes the flight possible.
