The Outing

About this outing.

Take a wander through the open plains at one of the best places, Engikaret Lark Plains! The wide grassy trails and short walks take us through classic dry savanna and acacia scrub habitats, hosting a wonderful variety of birds.

We’ll focus on trying to find the region’s special larks, especially the endemic Beesley’s Lark, along with Somali Short-toed Lark, Rufous-naped Lark, Chestnut-backed Sparrow-Lark, and other dry-country specialties. We will, of course, also stop to admire any other birds, raptors, or wildlife that catches our eye along the way!

Details: Distance 5–10km · Elevation 1,433m · Mostly paved road, paved trail, single-track packed dirt/gravel · Pacing: Slow with frequent stops · Sun exposure: Full.
